Autumn term curriculum overview
This term our project is Dorrington
We will be finding out about our village of Dorrington, creating maps and marking on physical and human features. We will be using grid references and compass points as we plot routes through the village. We will also be comparing old maps of the village with newer ones and asking ourselves whether all changes have been good! In Science we are investigating materials and their properties as well as rocks and fossils. Our class text is Shropshire Folk Tales for Children by Amy Douglas. We will e focussing on 'The Wrekin Giant' for the first part of the term. In music, we will be using Stravisnky's 'The Firebird' as inspiration.
Water Bottles - You should have a named water bottle in class so you can drink during class time. Please only fill your bottle with water rather than juice etc.
PE - This term will be on a Monday. Please come to school in your PE kit. If the weather is colder then track suit bottoms and a school sweat shirt can be worn.
Please complete the weekly tasks on
It is really important that you read with your child at least 5 times a week.
To support your child at home with their reading you could use lots of different questioning techniques. Asking your child to repeat/ summarise what they have read or picking specific events in the book to talk about will help you to understand what they have learnt. You can find lots of example questions to ask your child below.
Please have a look for any reading books from last term that you may still have at home and bring them back to us as soon as possible.
