Spring term curriculum overview

This term our project is The Romans
We will be finding out about life in Roman times - looking at when the Romans invaded, who Boudicca was and why Hadrian's Wall was built. We will also be comparing the cities of Rome and Liverpool and using some of their features to help us create maps. In Science we are investigating plants. We will be planting bulbs and seeds and use some vegetables to help us create a roman stew! Our class text is Escape from Pompeii by Christina Balit. We will also be reading Roman Diary by Richard Platt. In Music we will learning to play P-Buzz trumpets with Shropshire Music Service.
Water Bottles - You should have a named water bottle in class so you can drink during class time. Please only fill your bottle with water rather than juice etc.
PE - This term will be on a Monday and Tuesday. Please come to school in your PE kit. If the weather is colder then track suit bottoms and a school sweat shirt can be worn.
Homework:
Please complete the weekly tasks on
Reading
It is really important that you read with your child at least 5 times a week.
To support your child at home with their reading you could use lots of different questioning techniques. Asking your child to repeat/ summarise what they have read or picking specific events in the book to talk about will help you to understand what they have learnt. You can find lots of example questions to ask your child below.
Please have a look for any reading books from last term that you may still have at home and bring them back to us as soon as possible.
